The Council for Life (formerly known as the Pregnancy Resource Council) was founded in 2001 by eleven women, whose commonality was found in Christ and their commitment to the sanctity of life. With a burden to change the heart of our city and to support women in crisis pregnancies, the first "Celebrities Celebrating Life" Luncheon benefited a single local pregnancy resource center. In 2003, consistent with our mission statement and our growing vision, our board decided to more proactively address the complex issues of crisis pregnancies in our city. While maintaining our commitment to fund local pregnancy resource centers, our funding now also includes teen abstinence programs, STD education and testing, adoption agencies, maternity homes and a Call-For-Help television campaign designed to reach young women in crisis pregnancies. To date, the Council has donated in excess of 1.6 million dollars to agencies that share our mission to empower women to make life-affirming choices.
