Since its beginning, Council for Life has been committed to raising significant funds for non-profit agencies that share our mission of honoring the sanctity of life. To date, Council for Life has given more than $7 million to 48 local agencies. The 2018 beneficiaries have been carefully selected. Each of these beneficiaries is committed to serving daily in implementing our mission of empowering women, men and youth to make life-affirming choices and to raising public awareness of the complex issues that surround unplanned pregnancies. CFL is grateful for the faith-based, compassionate services that these agencies provide and for their passionate commitment to the sanctity of life.
2018 CELEBRATING LIFE LUNCHEON BENEFICIARIES
Aim for Success / aimforsuccess.org
Founded in 1993 by Marilyn Morris, Dallas based Aim for Success is a youth health education organization whose mission is helping young people make healthy choices that will give them freedom to reach their dreams and goals. Aim for Success promotes a lifestyle of excellence by encouraging the development of self- control, self-respect and self-discipline. Today, over 2.5 million teens, parents and educators across America have participated in an Aim for Success presentation. Funds will be used to implement their new program Laying a Foundation for Life providing life-affirming health and sexual risk avoidance education programs to fifth and seventh graders and their parents in DFW area schools. As part of this new program, their new adolescent program Next Up teaches the fundamentals of puberty and sexuality to fifth graders, and their foundational program Aim for Success promotes abstinence until marriage for seventh graders. Aim for Success will offer matching funds to local schools to provide these programs.

Opened in 2009, the mission of Birth Choice of Dallas is to save babies from abortion and build up stronger families. Their free and confidential services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STD testing, options counseling, prenatal, parenting, life skills and fatherhood classes, post-abortion recovery, community referrals and material assistance. The goal of Birth Choice is to expand their vision for more encompassing ways to address the needs in our community regarding issues of life, family, health and faith with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are strategically located in the same business complex as Southwestern Women’s Surgical Center which provides abortions through 21 weeks gestation. Funds will be used for the one-year salary of a part-time Sonographer to continue to meet the critical need for ultrasound services due to Birth Choice's increased demand for ultrasound services and expansion of their clinic hours.
Catholic Pro-Life Committee, the Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Dallas / prolifedallas.org
The mission of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas, the Respect Life Ministry of the Diocese of Dallas, is to educate, unite and mobilize Catholics and all people of good will in North Texas and beyond to end abortion and restore respect and legal protection for every human life from conception until natural death. The CPLC carries out this mission through life-saving ministries serving the public with supportive services for mothers and their children, education and advocacy on life issues and women's health, and abortion aftercare. Commissioned in 1993, CPLC has been called the largest and most effective diocesan pro-life organization in the world and a model for the nation. The CPLC Convert-to-Life ministry stands on the front line providing emergency, life-saving support by counseling outside abortion facilities and providing student education and engagement opportunities. Funds will be used to expand Convert-to-Life (i) sidewalk counseling efforts at the three Dallas abortion facilities, literature and signage to direct the abortion-vulnerable to life-affirming alternatives, and training materials and networking events to expand volunteer support and (ii) student outreach efforts to educate and engage college students through on campus exhibits and a summer internship program.

Founded in 2004 in Austin, Heroic Media’s mission is to help save lives from abortion. Heroic Media reaches women facing unplanned pregnancies through advertising and connects them with life-affirming organizations that can help them choose life for their unborn children. Heroic Media uses two programs: (i) Google pay-per-click advertising that puts abortion-minded women in contact with Pregnancy Help Centers and (ii) Internet video education that raises awareness about Pregnancy Help Centers as a resource to help with unexpected pregnancies. Funds will be used for a 12-month Adoption Option Education & Awareness Internet video program to air on YouTube and Facebook focused on women in the Dallas area between the ages of 18 and 29 years old.

The mission of Hope Women’s Center is to affirm the life of the preborn child by providing medical and educational services to teens and women in unplanned pregnancies, and those who significantly influence them, by encouraging Christ-centered, life-affirming decisions and healthy lifestyles. Founded in 2006 in McKinney, their complimentary and confidential services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STD/STI testing and treatment, options counseling, post-abortive support and community referrals. Funds will be used (i) to expand the STI testing services provided to abortion-minded/at-risk women and (ii) for the one-year salary of a part-time Student Relations Manager to meet growing community demand for customized presentations that engage and influence middle school, high school and college students across Collin County regarding sexual health decisions and pregnancy.

Founded in 2002 by Dan Bailey in Dallas, Just Say YES – Youth Equipped to Succeed helps equip teens to succeed by educating them through in-school student assembly speakers, classroom peer-to-peer mentoring and a sexual risk avoidance curriculum. Their goal is empowering students to say YES to their dreams and goals and no to destructive choices. Just Say YES provides at-risk youth with vital life and relationship skills that give them the knowledge and motivation to make life-affirming choices. Their objective is to meet negative culture influences with a positive response rooted in Godly principles. Their speakers and resources cover a variety of topics, including bullying, teen pregnancy prevention, teen dating violence, high school dropout prevention, drug and alcohol abuse and self-image. Funds will be used to promote and deliver to DFW teens, parents and PRCs the Just Say YES program Boundaries of the Heart that models, educates and equips to understand a healthy relationship, choose a path of sexual risk avoidance and engage young men in a pregnancy decision.
LifeTalk Resource Center is a crisis pregnancy center whose vision is to transform women and men with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and empower a culture of Life. Since opening its doors in 2008, the mission of LifeTalk has been to be a beacon of light, providing the Frisco/Celina community with the necessary resources to affirm Life and hope. LifeTalk works in coordination with a medical practice to provide confidential and free services, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment, options counseling, prenatal and parenting classes, material support and referrals, and after-abortion help. Funds will be used for the one-year salary of a part-time Client Services Director to meet growing demand for LifeTalk's services by expanding their class and materials assistance offerings, as well as training more volunteers vital to their ministry.

Pregnancy Resource Center of Grand Prairie opened in 1994 to reach women, couples and families in the community facing unplanned pregnancies and vulnerable to abortion through Christ's truth and love. They encourage life-affirming decisions for their unborn children by providing support, resources, education and referrals in a safe, caring and confidential environment. Services are provided at no charge and include pregnancy tests, options counseling, sonograms, STI screening, prenatal and parenting education, and practical assistancere. Funds will be used for (i) the one-year salary for an Administrative Coordinator to assist with increased social media outreach to clients, training new volunteers and other support and (ii) increased hours for their Nurse Manager to provide sonograms to their growing number of abortion minded/vulnerable clients.
The Pregnancy Resource Center, established in Rockwall in 2000 and Mesquite in 2008, exists to help women who are facing unplanned pregnancies to choose life by using Biblically based principles and demonstrating the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. Their free and confidential services include pregnancy tests, sonograms, STD/STI testing, counseling, pregnancy options information, pregnancy/parenting education, material support, community referrals and post-abortion support. Funds will be used for a new ultrasound machine at their Mesquite location to provide higher quality images and to integrate training and proficiency with their Rockwall location, which has the same ultrasound machine model, by allowing all communication and imaging to be accessed through their shared network.
Serving Collin County and North Dallas for over 25 years, Real Options for Women is a pregnancy resource medical clinic located in Plano. Their mission is to empower women, men and students to make physical, emotional and spiritual choices that affirm life and health. Real Options offer free pregnancy tests, options information, counseling, STI screening, ultrasounds, abstinence programming, community resources and referrals, and abortion recovery Bible studies. Real Options is one of the few pregnancy clinics that has a thriving abstinence education program. Their 180 Degrees abstinence education program is offered free of charge to public schools, private schools, retreats and church youth groups. Real Options believes that this education empowers youth to make better choices concerning their sexual health, which in turn reduces teen pregnancy incidents and abortion in the community. Funds will be used for the one-year salary and training of a new educator for 180 Degrees to meet the additional growth of this program and to allow them to bring the truth of abstinence to thousands of additional students.
Founded in 1988, the mission of Southwest Pregnancy Services is to empower individuals in Southwest Dallas County to make healthy, life-affirming choices for themselves and their children. They accomplish this through building a trust-based relationship with expectant patients and their families, providing limited medical services, education and support services. Their free and confidential services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, options counseling, community referrals, STD/STI information, parenting classes, medical referrals and baby care essentials. Southwest Pregnancy Services desires to express the love of Jesus to families facing unplanned pregnancy. Funds will be used for (i) the one-year salary of a new Director of Development position to build capacity through funding relationships, which will in turn expand services, resources and support for their growing number of clients, and (ii) construction renovations to existing space to create a new, more usable and updated clinic, counseling and work space to better serve these clients.
Thrive Women’s Clinic, formerly Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center, began in 1983 as the first Dallas pregnancy clinic to provide an alternative to abortion. Thrive’s mission is to extend Christ-like love in a compassionate and responsive manner that values the family and empowers women and their partners to choose life. Their vision is to live in a community where taking the life of the unborn is unthinkable. Thrive provides medical, educational, spiritual and emotional support to women and men in a confidential, non-judgmental environment. They offer a variety of free services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, pregnancy options education, medical consultation/pre-abortion screening, counseling and mentoring, and community referrals and resources. Funds will be used for their Volunteer Training program that trains and equips new and existing volunteers and lay counselors to handle conversations with women and men in unplanned pregnancies about abortion, adoption and parenting.
YoungLives is a special outreach started in 1991 for teenage girls facing unplanned pregnancies and operates in North Texas as part of the Young Life North Central Texas Region. The mission of Young Life is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. YoungLives is Young Life’s unique outreach program for teen girls from all socioeconomic backgrounds who are experiencing crisis pregnancy and motherhood that brings them together with mature Christian women mentors. These mentors meet teen moms in the midst of their challenges, empowering them to make life-affirming choices for their babies by providing constant support and encouragement throughout pregnancy and motherhood, offering friendship, parenting skills, spiritual guidance and access to community resources. The goal is that every girl faced with crisis pregnancy and hopelessness would know the powerful love of the Father through her YoungLives mentor, and choose life. The girls and their mentors regularly attend club similar to traditional Young Life clubs. The girls also have the opportunity to attend Bible Study and participate in a summer camping experience to have fun and learn about God alongside their babies in a far removed, beautiful setting. Funds will be used (i) to start a new Garland YoungLives ministry to reach the high schools in this area and (ii) for YoungLives Family Camp which pairs teen parent couples with a mentor couple to teach them how to parent their children and have healthy familial relationships.

Founded in 1879 and an adoption leader since 1884, Buckner International has placed more than 4,000 children in loving adoptive homes. Buckner Children and Family Services serves children and equips families by providing comprehensive adoption and foster care services across Texas. Their mission is to protect children, promote independence and build strong families through Christ-centered values. Their goal is to help every child find hope and healing through family foster care or permanency through reunification with kin or through the blessing of adoption. Buckner’s full range of adoption opportunities include Foster-to-Adopt, Waiting Texas Children (typically older children and/or teens and sibling groups waiting for adoption through Child Protective Services), Maternity Services, Voluntary Adoption (domestic infants or children adoption) and Intercountry Adoptions. Buckner’s team of trained case managers and social workers build personal relationships and offer emotional support and counseling to each child and family they serve every step of the way in connection with foster care and adoption. Funds will be used for additional value-added services to enable Buckner's Adoption Specialist to provide better support to children eligible for adoption and the adoptive families in the Waiting Texas Children and Voluntary Adoption programs both during the adoption process and after placement. These value-added services include therapeutic counseling, family support groups, in-home art therapy services and supplies, Adoptive Family Summer Camp and topical family training.
