Council for Life was delighted to host friends in Fort Worth last month to share about our mission to empower women, men and youth to make life-affirming choices.
We are grateful to Taylor Lacy for graciously opening her beautiful home and the 35 guests who joined us for this intimate gathering and conversation. We are also grateful to Stephanie Adams and Antoinette Davis, Council for Life Fort Worth Affiliate Co-Chairs, who planned the details of the Coffee with prayerful thoughtfulness and excellence and to Cindy Leach, CEO of Fort Worth Pregnancy Center, our outstanding guest speaker.
For more than 16 years, Council for Life has been blessed to raise funds and provide grants to life-affirming nonprofits that serve vulnerable mothers, fathers and babies with compassionate care in Fort Worth and all of Tarrant County. Affiliate Growth is a primary CFL initiative. Five years ago, CFL took our proven model to Waco where we now have a vibrant Central Texas Affiliate. We are now called to partner with Fort Worth to create a West Texas Affiliate.
CFL Executive Director Lee Anne Morris and Director of Communication and Philanthropy Suzanne Everbach began the Coffee program with an overview of the work of Council for Life and abortion law and policy in the U.S. and Texas in a post-Roe era. A presentation from Cindy Leach followed.
Cindy prefaced her remarks by sharing the grim reality that despite our state’s strong abortion ban, abortion is happening every day in Fort Worth. She articulated the challenges her team faces in reaching women most at-risk of abortion in Fort Worth. They must connect with these women before digital advertisements encourage them to seek an abortion by traveling out of state for a surgical abortion or ordering dangerous chemical abortion pills online. Cindy pointed out the ease with which women cheaply purchase the deadly pills and have them delivered to their doorstep within days with no instructions, doctor’s care or information about the risks of complications. She stressed the total unpreparedness of a woman when she has the traumatizing experience of delivering her now deceased baby, likely in her bathroom. Cindy also noted the rise in abortion-minded Hispanic women, a shift in an historically strong pro-life culture.
CFL is honored to support Fort Worth Pregnancy Center and numerous other Tarrant County Beneficiaries.
We are eager to form a West Texas Affiliate to fundraise for these worthy agencies and to educate this community about the humanity of preborn babies, the vast resources and help these agencies provide and the devastating harm of abortion.
We look forward to gathering again soon as we endeavor to bring the Council for Life model to Fort Worth!
