Council for Life Board and Staff joined 100,000 other pro-life advocates in Washington, D.C., for the 50th Annual March for Life— the first in a post-Roe America.

For the first time, retail pharmacies, from corner drugstores to major chains like CVS and Walgreens, will be allowed to offer abortion pills in states where abortion is legal. 

The reversal of Roe was certainly a massive victory, but abortion is still tragically pervasive in our nation. The fight continues, but looks different in 2023.

Last week we discussed the issue of abortion as the greatest moral divide in our nation in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs decision. Council for Life Advisory Board member Dr. Jim Denison devoted this past Tuesday's Denison Forum - The Daily Article to the midterm abortion vote's disheartening revelation about the "deeply urgent" condition of our culture.

The Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole Hotel was filled on Monday, Novmeber 14, with nearly 1,500 guests coming together to celebrate a historical year for the cause of LIFE! The Council for Life Celebrating Life Luncheon raised an unprecedented amount allowing us to fully fund our record 28 outstanding 2022 Beneficiaries.

The greatest moral divide in our nation right now in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs decision is the issue of abortion. We must be informed about what is at stake regarding abortion in the midterm elections tomorrow and what the consequences of the outcome might be.

We are giving thanks that yesterday in Texas the Human Life Protection Act of 2021 (HB 1280) outlawing abortion went into effect. The countdown for HB 1280, known as Texas' pro-life Trigger Law, to become enforceable began 30 days ago on July 26 when the U.S. Supreme Court issued its final judgment in the Dobbs case. Dobbs overturned Roe v. Wade and returned authority to legislate abortion to the people and their elected representatives. Texas is one of 13 states to pass Trigger Laws that ban abortions after Roe's reversal. 

This past Tuesday, we shared that our City of Dallas had joined the dubious ranks of Austin, Denton and San Antonio and other cities in the U.S. in putting forth legislation to protect abortion rights. We are grieved that yesterday the Dallas City Council voted 13-1 to overwhelmingly pass the Reproductive Rights Resolution.

We know you share in our tremendous joy that Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States just weeks ago. While we are filled with gratitude that there is no longer a federal constitutional right to abortion and abortion facilities in Texas have closed or relocated, the work before Council for Life and all pro-life advocates is tremendous. We all have experienced the palpable reaction from the pro-abortion side. The misinformation being circulated is creating confusion and chaos. Federal, state and even local governments and voters are taking measures to protect abortion rights.
